Asia Dragons from China and St. Colmcilles from Hertfordshire in England were welcome visitors to the club last Tuesday evening as part of the World Games twinning initiative with clubs in the County as this event was based in the WIT Centre.
Club chairman David Kiely welcomed our visitors to the club followed by a rendition of Irish tunes by a group of wonderful young musicians under the guidance of Katie Halpin and Helena Burke. Our visitors returned the compliment with cultural contributions from their own backgrounds before refreshments were served followed by presentations to both visiting parties by our chairman David.
Next up was a very interesting tour of the town by local historian John Young before a group photograph was taken outside the home of the father of the GAA in Waterford in its early years Dan Fraher.
Thus concluded a very enjoyable evening which was appreciated by two very courteous groups from different parts of the globe that came to spend a short but very pleasant few hours with Dungarvan GAA.
Thanks to our club members who organised this evening and who helped on the night. Special thanks to our young musicians and to John Young for their participation. Ni neart go cur le cheile.
