Dungarvan Ladies Football Club

The Dungarvan Ladies Football Club was formed in January 1992 and under the stewardship of Margaret Cunningham, Nicky Sheehan, Paddy Fitzgerald, Pat Flynn and Ger Beresford the foundations were layed for a glorious future.

However it wasn’t until the early part of this decade that the fruits of their labour would really begin to pay off when the club under the guidance of new Chairperson Anne Hayes and Secretary Nuala Ryan restructured the club appointed new coaches Brian Wall, William Fraher, Diarmaid Curran, Crohan McGregor, Thomas Harty, Pepe Ferncombe, Seamus Hayes, Thomas Duggan and the ever present Nicky Sheehan that the hard work on the training field would be converted into the following well deserved county titles:

2002 Under 12 “B”

2004 Under 14 “B”

2005 Under 14 “B”

2006 Junior Seven a side

2007 Under 16 “B”

2008 Under 16 “A”

2008 Junior ”B”

2009 Junior ”A”

2010 Intermediate

The foundations are now in place for the club to grow and continue to prosper and it is a great sense of pride that the Dungarvan GAA Club has the largest number of registered ladies footballers within the county.

About Dungarvan GAA Club

Dungarvan GAA Club was affiliated to the Gaelic Athletic Association on June the 1st 1885 - the first club in Waterford to do so. Through thick and thin, good times and bad, we have stayed the pace, and to-day we are the oldest - and I dare say the best - club in the county. We stand uniquely alone as the only club in the Decies to have won county championships in every grade from Under 12 up to senior in both codes.
