BALLYDUFF ON TOP IN HIGH SCORING GAME
BALLYDUFF 6-17 DUNGARVAN 4-9
Ballyduff qualified for yet another final this year when they outscored Dungarvan comfortably in Cappoquin last Sunday morning. They will now play either Clashmore/Kinsalebeg or An Ghaeltacht in the Divisional final.
There was no shortage of scores in this game on a field that was in very good condition for the time of the year. Ten goals were scored with Ballyduff responsible for half a dozen for them while they were also on top in the points scoring scene.
Ballyduff began with two points by Sean Hickey in the first three minutes before Kyle Healy goaled for Dungarvan. The teams were level at the end of the third quarter, 1-6(B) to 2-3 (D) with Cathal Murphy(2), Pa McCarthy(f)and Carthach Hickey adding points to a goal by Murphy for Ballyduff and Eoin Callaghan(2) and Johnny Burke adding to Kyle Healy’s second goal.
The key scores in the second quarter and the ones that went a long way to deciding the winners were goals by Jason English(peno), Carthach Hickey and Sean Hickey for Ballyduff which saw them going in at half time 4-10 to 2-6 ahead.
SECOND HALF
The new half was only one minute old when Sean Hickey scored his second goal and while Eoin O Callaghan replied similarly in the 33rd minute for Dungarvan, Sean Hickey completed his hat trick in the 37th minute and with the scoreboard reading 6-11 to 3-7, the winners were in the comfort zone.
Dungarvan kept plugging away and Johnny Burke scored 1-1 from frees and Eoin O Callaghan brought his tally to 1-4.
Ballyduff brought their points tally to 0-17 with further minors from Cathal Murphy, 0-4(3f) and Darragh Sheehy(2) to win comfortably by 0-14.
