STRADBALLY 3-12 DUNGARVAN 2-11
Our senior footballers played very well against County champions Stradbally in the third round Group game of the senior football championship on Saturday July 14th.
DARREN DUGGAN
Though defeat was our lot in the end we were in this game for fifty minutes until the champions greater experience secured the winning scores.
KIERAN POWER AND KEALAN BARRY
After a slow start in which we trailed by 1-3 to 0-0, we settled into the match and points by Gavin Crotty and Kieran Power brought us to within 0-4 by the 28th minute at 1-5 to 0-4. However a give away goal saw us behind at half time by 2-6 to 0-4.
JACK LACEY
Credit to the team, they won the second half against the strong breeze by 2-7 to 1-6 and we dominated this period for the first twenty minutes.
MICHAEL KEARNEY
We scored the first five scores via Gavin Crotty 0-2(1f), a Kenny Moore goal in the 34th minute and points by Kieran Power and Joe Allen. This brought us to within 0-1 at 2-6 to 1-8 by the 36th minute and a Kenny Moore pointed free kept the same margin ten minutes in at 2-7 to 1-9.
GAVIN CROTTY 0-6(5F).
Stradbally had the better of the final twenty minutes though we never threw in the towel and an injury time goal by Michael Kiely was no more than this team deserved .
