DUNGARVAN 1-12 CLASHMORE/KINSALEBEG 0-13
Our junior footballers qualified for the quarter finals of the County championship away to Clashmore/ Kinsalebeg last Friday evening in a closely fought game throughout.
The team showed great spirit in getting back into contention after trailing by 0-6 to 0-2 after 20 minutes to leave us just 0-1 in arrears at the break on a score of 0-7 to 0-6.
Fionn Hallahan was our leading scorer in both halves from frees and from play he contributed 1-8(4f) to our finishing tally. Forty minutes in a pointed free by Fionn gave us the lead for the first time at 0-9 to 0-8 and sub Steven Donovan stretched this with a good score from play.
The key score arrived in the 52nd minute when Joe Duggan was upended in front of goal after a mazy run through the home defence and Fionn Hallahan dispatched the size 5 in to the net to give us a 0-4 lead at 1-11 to 0-10.
Fair dues to Clashmore/ Kinsalebeg, they fought back to leave just 0-1 the difference at 1-11 to 0-13 before Fionn Hallahan kicked the final score of the game to qualify us for the quarter finals.
