First Waterford Man to Win a Railway Cup Football Medal with Munster.

Jackie O Donnell from Kilrush in Dungarvan became the first Waterford player to win a Railway Cup football medal in the year 1931.

Jackie was a member of our own Five in a row senior football winning teams from 1926 to 1930, captaining the side. Paul Russell from Kerry, who later won senior football medals with the club in 1937 and in 1938 and who was also a chairman of Dungarvan GAA and the Western Board also played on this Railway Cup team.

In 1931 Munster beat Connacht by 4-5 to 1-7 in the semi final before going on to win the final against Leinster by 2-2 to 0-6.

The Munster team lined out as follows :
